Indian Wells Masters LIVE: Tsitsipas vs Thompson LIVE – Stefanos Tsitsipas is all set to make his return to the ATP Tour following his participation in the ATP Rotterdam last month. The World No.3 will face Australia’s Jordan Thompson in the second round at the ATP Masters 1000 event on Friday. The match is scheduled to begin at 1.50 am IST (Saturday). - Tsitsipas began the year at the United Cup, where he won all the four games that he played in the tournament. His team Greece bowed out from the semifinals.
- He then featured in the Australian and continued his personal form by going all the way to the final. He was however beaten in the summit clash by Novak Djokovic.
- It was his career’s second runner-up finish in Grand Slam events. In 2021, he lost the French Open final.
- After the Australian Open he participated in the ATP Rotterdam. He couldn’t make a deep run in the tournament as he lost in the second round against Jannik Sinner.
- Tsitsipas has a chance to displace Novak Djokovic from the top spot if he wins the title in the Indian Wells Masters as well as the upcoming Miami Open.
- The Greek is however nursing a shoulder niggle. He himself revealed that he is entering Indian Wells with low expectations.
- Australian Jordan Thompson began the year with a first round exit at Adelaide International 1. At the Adelaide International 2 he failed to go past the qualifiers.
- He was given a direct entry to the main draw at the Australian Open. The 28-year old bowed out from the first round after losing to JJ Wolf in four sets.
- The Australian then bowed out from the second round at Dallas Open. He lost in the first round at Delray Beach Open.
- Following his poor performance in the ATP Tour, he featured in the Rome Challenger and won the title last week.
- He made it to the main draw at Indian Wells and continued his form by defeating veteran Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-1 in the first round.
Tsitsipas vs Thompson Head-to-Head: Stefanos Tsitsipas has a 2-0 head-to-head record against Jordan Thompson. The Greek yet again will be the favourite when both these players meet. They last met at the Wimbledon in 2022 and Tsitsipas won the contest in straight sets.
