India vs SA T20 Series – South Africa Tour of India: The India and South Africa teams can breathe easy. After a gap of two long years, BCCI has decided to remove BIO-BUBBLE restrictions for the Indian cricket team. The KL Rahul-led team will not have to stay in BIO-BUBBLE as was the case in the last two years. “If I’m not wrong, the bio-bubble for IPL-2022 was the last. For the India-SA series onwards, players will be tested (for Covid), but will not be any bio-bubble,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed it to TOI.

India Squad Fitness Test: Meanwhile according to available information, BCCI wants the entire squad to prove fitness before the series. The Indian board has asked the KL Rahul-led squad to appear for a fitness test at the NCA by June 5 ahead of the five-match T20 series against South Africa.

 

“All players for South Africa series will have to assemble for a fitness camp at NCA. It’s important as many of them are carrying niggles. Harshal still has stitches and we want to make sure everything is fine,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

The 18-member India squad will now assemble at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on or by June 5 after their IPL 2022 duties. They will undergo a mandatory fitness test with the NCA director VVS Laxman overseeing the proceedings.

From Bengaluru, they will head to Delhi on June 7 for the 1st T20I on June 9. Rahul Dravid will be with the squad for South Africa series.

  • The 18-member squad will assemble at the NCA by June 5 after completing IPL duties.
  • They will undergo a fitness camp under VVS Laxman and physio Nitin Patel’s supervision.
  • After the short camp, they will fly out to Delhi on June 7 ahead of the first match on June 9.
  • Rahul Dravid is likely to be available for the entire South Africa series.
  • The red-ball team will leave for England barring KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. They will join the squad in England after SA series.
