Harshal Patel scored a stunning half-century as India managed a respectable 149/8 in their 20 overs. Put into bat by Northants, India struggled against the moving ball, with Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi and Suryakumar Yadav all departing early.
Reduced to 8/3, Ishan Kishan and captain Dinesh Karthik put in a fine partnership, with the latter scoring at a crisp rate. However, the duo were dismissed in quick succession as India stared at a below-par total with the score reading 72/5 in the 12th over.
Harshal Patel then stitched a vital stand with Venkatesh Iyer taking India past the 100-run mark in the 16th over. While the KKR star departed, Patel took the attack against an inexperienced attack to guide India to 149/8.

In response, the Indian pacers made merry with some help from the surface, striking four wickets in the powerplay. Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Harshal Patel all struck once each.
Saif Zaib kept Northamptonshire in the game, taking the match deep into the final over. Nathan Buck, James Sales and Brandon Glover chipped in with cameos. Needing 11 from the final over, Zaib couldn’t get his team over the line to hand India the win.
