“After being diagnosed with a stress fracture to the lower back, England and Sussex seamer Jofra Archer has been ruled out for the rest of the season,” England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.

Archer, who had to pull out of the T20 World Cup 2021 and missed the home series against New Zealand and India last summer is on the same boat again. Although he was edging closer to return in international cricket, the stress fracture is likely to keep him out for at least 3-4 months. That makes him doubtful for the T20 World Cup 2022 as well. The ECB hasn’t set a timeline on when he will make a return.
“No timeframe has been set for his return. A management plan will be determined following further specialist opinion over the coming days,” the ECB statement added.
