The Indian team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, reached Perth, Australia on October 6 in preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Blue won back-to-back 2-1 home series against Australia and South Africa. On Monday, October 10, they played their first practice match against the Western Australia XI, which the Indian team won by a score of 13 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a magnificent half-century, and Arshdeep Singh, who claimed three wickets, were the day’s top performers. Additionally, Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each claimed two wickets. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were absent from the practice game as the pair took part in some batting practice. They have another practice match lined up for Thursday, October 13.
Prior to their high-voltage match against archrivals Pakistan, the 2007 T20 winners were originally only supposed to play two warm-up games against Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and 19, respectively. However, BCCI scheduled two additional practice games against Western Australia for October 10 and 13, respectively. The very first T20I champions will now try to win their second title and recover from their Super 12 exit in the last edition.
