India Squad WI Series: Jasprit Bumrah to be rested – After R Ashwin, India will be without star pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the West Indies series due to workload management. Ashwin was ruled out due to an injury. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has cleared the fitness test and will return to lead the side with the selectors likely to announce the squad on Wednesday. “Jasprit Bumrah is all but set to be rested as his workload management is important looking at the international calendar. He featured in all Tests and ODIs against South Africa, so it is important we give him a break,”, according to the BCCI Release

India Squad WI Series: The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked an 18-member squad for the upcoming Paytm ODI and T20I series against the West Indies.

ODI squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan

T20I squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-captain), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Surya Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Mohd. Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel.

  • Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami have been rested from the series.
  • KL Rahul will be available from the 2nd ODI onwards.
  • R Jadeja is undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury and will not be available for the ODIs and T20Is.
  • Axar Patel will be available for the T20Is.

Rohit Sharma FIT & AVAILABLE – After clearing the fitness test, Rohit Sharma is now available to lead the side. This will be the first time that Rohit will lead the side with Virat Kohli present in the team. After Kohli resigned from the T20 captaincy and was removed from the ODI leadership role. Rohit was handed over the captaincy role in white-ball formats and is now set to take charge of the Test team as well after Kohli vacated the post following Kohli’s resignation.

“Yes, Rohit cleared fitness test. He arrived early at the NCA. It was just a customary test since he had already recovered. He is good to go. The squad should be announced in the next few hours or tomorrow. It is up to the selectors,” a top BCCI official told InsideSport.IN on Wednesday.

India and West Indies will lock horns in three ODIs and three T20Is. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday had announced a change in venues for the upcoming West Indies’ Tour of India.

The three ODIs will now be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and three T20Is will be held at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
