- India with Bumrah have looked off-colour.
- Since T20 World Cup 2021, without Bumrah during defending totals, India have won both matches.
- Without Bumrah though, India have lost three of the last five matches.
- In absence of Bumrah, Rohit Sharma handed Umesh Yadav a new lease of life in T20Is.
- But Umesh’s first four deliveries on a comeback after three years went for four consecutive boundaries.
- Harshal Patel also returning from injury went for 49 in his four.
- Hardik Pandya who at times made India’s pace bowling unit strong went for 22 in his 2.
- But it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who disappointed the most.

As for other options, India have to take a call on Dinesh Karthik. The limited options he has got of late hasn’t yielded in much results and Rishabh Pant’s absence behind the stumps is hurting too. Pant may not be in excellent form in T20s currently but his ears and presence of mind behind the stumps are crucial.
Dinesh Karthik despite doing a decent job missed a review completely. He is the first man to inform captain about taking the review but he failed to do so. With Pant back, Hardik and Axar could be two good options as finishers.
India also need to give Yuzvendra Chahal a break and help him rethink what has gone wrong. He has had a lacklustre show in the last few games. On Tuesday, he went for 42. Ashwin’s inclusion could help ease the pressure with his defensive bowling.
