India Cricket Overhaul: India Cricket Review Meeting: After waiting for nearly two months, the BCCI has set the ball rolling on India T20 Reboot. AGENDA 1: T20 World Cup Review: The 1st point on AGENDA is very clear. BCCI will ask the captain Rohit Sharma, Coach Rahul Dravid & Chairman Selection Committee to explain the reason of the DEFEATS in Asia Cup & T20 World CUP.

“It’s important to know what went wrong before we can take a call. It’s a team effort and when the players lose, we lose too. It’s a collective effort. We have ODI World Cup coming up and we need to know what is the problem they are facing,” the official said.

AGENDA 2: Injury Crisis: Besides Captain, Coach & Selector, BCCI will speak to NCA Head VVS Laxman in this regard. The agenda would be to understand why so many injuries are happening and how well are they managed.

The Board president Binny had himself raised concerns over workload management and the injuries to key players. As NCA chief, the former India batter will be asked to explain the causes for such injuries. The review of NCA Staff will also be done.

This is the most pressing concern at the moment with a string of injuries bogging India down. India were without Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja at the T20 World Cup. Deepak Chahar has been in and out with injuries way too many times. In Bangladesh, India were left with just 13 players from the original roster of 18 players.

“It’s a huge concern. Not just the team management or captain, even for the players. We cannot have players lose trust on the NCA and visit private doctors. That’s not good for the board or Indian cricket. We must address this with another World Cup around the corner,” the official told InsideSport.

AGENDA 3: Split Captaincy: The BCCI will formally take the views of Rohit, Rahul and Laxman on split captaincy. Hardik Pandya has already been declared the T20 captain but the BCCI hasn’t confirmed whether the move is permanent. With workload management, BCCI will ask Rohit Sharma to focus on the long formats and leave T20 cricket. But before that, the BCCI top brass wants to understand the captain and coach’s views. The board has already handed Hardik the vice-captaincy in the 50-over format.

AGENDA 4 – Split Coaching: BCCI is set to face some heat on this front as it has never been done before in Indian cricket. But with a lot of travelling involved for coaches, BCCI is mulling a specialist T20 coach to replace Rahul Dravid. The former India captain can nurture the ODI and Test teams with his vast experience.

As earlier reported by InsideSport, BCCI is very serious about appointing a specialist coach for the shortest format. The same will come up for discussion in the meeting. India haven’t won an ICC tournament since 2013. And the PERFORMANCE REVIEW Meeting is clear-cut signal, that is BCCI is determined to make amends next time.

“Nothing is final yet. We are exploring multiple options. Rahul is very much in our plans. But there is a workload on him too. Our entire focus shifts to World Cup at home. The message to everyone is clear, we have to win the World Cup. So, for obvious reasons, the focus is not on T20s at the moment. There are a lot of discussions going on. But for a final decision, CAC and the selectors have to be involved. And it will take a little while,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

AGENDA 5: Tough calls on seniors: However, the toughest discussion will be regarding phasing out seniors. Rohit Sharma being one of the senior-most will have to listen to BCCI’s plans on phasing out seniors. The phase-out includes Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and even Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. However, the plan does not only apply to T20s. BCCI is ready to take tough calls even in ODIs. Dropping Shikhar Dhawan abruptly from ODIs was a big hint.
