India is currently on a tour to Australia for a five-match series as a part of preparations for the upcoming FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup in 2023.
The World CUP is scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar-Rourkela starting January 13 at the iconic Kalinga Hockey Stadium and newly constructed Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium.
In the first two matches of the tour, hosts Australia clinched 5-4 and 7-4 victories and are looking to extend their winning run.
Both the matches were high-scoring and it was India’s defence that let the team down in the last two outings.
India conceded a last-minute goal to lose the opening Test 4-5. In the second game, they were leading through skipper Harmanpreet Singh’s third-minute goal but were blown away in the final quarter to go down 4-7.
