India at Tokyo Paralympics Day 8: Individual gold medallist Avani Lekhara failed to match her heroics in the team’s event, as she along with Sidhartha Babu and Deepak, failed to qualify for the mixed 10m Air  Rifle Prone event. The trio finished in 27th, 40th and 43rd place respectively, falling short of the R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone Sh1 Finals. Avani finished with a score of 629.7, while Babu and Deepak managed 625.5 and 624.9 respectively. The trio will hope to make the most of their remaining event at the Tokyo Paralympics.

After yet another good day for India with two medals on Tuesday, India will be looking at their other athletes to rise to the occasion and clinch medals Wednesday. India’s shuttlers — Pramod Bhagat, Palak Kohli, Manoj Sarkar will be in action apart from swimmer Suyash Jadhav in Men’s 100m breaststroke SB7 final.

On Tuesday, Rio Paralympics gold medallist Maryappan  Thangavelu returned with a silver medal in Men’s High Jump T63 while Sharad Kumar bagged a bronze medal in the same event. Singhraj Adhana bagged a bronze medal in Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event.

India at Tokyo Paralympics Day 8: With that, India have already managed to cross the double-digit mark in the medal tally with 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals for the first time in history. On Wednesday, India will look to add more to their tally.

Shooting: R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 @6 AM: Avani Lekhara, Sidhartha Babu & Deepak (Qualification)- The day starts with the mixed event in 10m Air Rifle Prone. Gold medallist Avani Lekhara will highlight the event for India while teaming up with Sidhartha Babu and Deepak in the qualification round. The trio are expected to finish on the podium considering India’s strong show in shooting so far.

Finals @ 8 AM: If the trio qualifies for the finals, it will take place at around 8 AM IST.

Swimming: Men’s 100m breaststroke SB7 Final @ 1:30 PM: Suyash Jadhav: In the afternoon session, India’s Suyash Jadhav will be in action in the Men’s 100m breaststroke SB7 final. The field includes current world record holder Carlos Daniel Serrano.

Badminton: Mixed doubles SL3-SU5 @ 2:30 PM: Palak Kohli & Pramod Bhagat: India’s para shuttlers also begin their campaign on Wednesday with Palak Kohli and Pramod Bhagat teaming up for mixed doubles against second-seeded French pair of Faustine Noel and Lucas Mazur in Group A. It will be a tough match for the Indian duo.

Athletics: Men’s Club Throw F51 Final @ 3:55 PM: Amit Kumar, Dharambir: We then move on to athletics where Amit Kumar and Dharambir will be in action in F51 Men’s Club Throw. The field includes current world record holder from Serbia Zeljko Dimitrijevic. Amit having finished 4th in Rio Paralympics will be hoping to finish in the medal bracket this time.

Badminton: Women’s singles SU5 Group Stage @5:10 PM: Palak Kohli: Indian para shuttler Palak Kohli will be back in action in the Women’s Singles SU5 event. She will be up against Ayako Suzuki of Japan in Group A.

Badminton: Men’s singles SL3 Group Stage @5:50 PM: Pramod Bhagat vs Manoj Sarkar: Palak Kohli’s match will be followed by two Indians taking on each other in the Men’s Singles SL3 Group A match at 5:50 PM.
