India coach Rahul Dravid has often experimented on the opening order for the Indian batting lineup. With KL Rahul missing action, Dravid has been eager to find the perfect complimenting partner for Rohit Sharma. This made him try out Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and Deepak Hooda to open innings for the Men in Blue.
However, with the series already wrapped up and Rohit Sharma rested for the final game, India decided to open their innings with Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Amidst his poor form, Iyer played a wonderful knock to register a marvelous fifty against the Caribbean opponents.

Traditionally a No.3 batter, Iyer failed to work wonders at his preferred spot and make it his own in the absence of Virat Kohli’s poor form. After putting up inconsistent performances, Rahul Dravid’s final gamble of playing Iyer in the opening spot worked wonders both for the player and the team.
Iyer got back into his groove and was seen scoring runs at an even flow. Iyer was ultimately dismissed on 64. At an astonishing strike rate of 160, Iyer went on to slam 8 fours and 2 huge sixes to put his team in a strong position against West Indies.
