Sunil Gavaskar and Viv Richards
The two legends of the game were fiercest rivals and best of the friends and have shared multiple occasions of glory. Sunil Gavaskar and Viv Richards have been best friends for a better part of half of century. The greats often share close contacts whenever they are on international tours. With more than 25000 runs and World Cup winning medals, both Gavaskar and Richards are successful cricketers of all time.
In 2021, Gavaskar celebrated the 50th anniversary of his Test debut and was felicitated by the BCCI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where the fourth Test match between India and England was played. Viv Richards took the occasion and posted a tweet and congratulated Gavaskar.
Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara
With more than 50000 international runs in between them they are still the living legends that share a close bond. Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara were considered to be the fiercest batting rivals in the late 90s and early 00s. Tendulkar and Lara though were never vocal about the competition. But post their retirements, the duo have maintained a healthy friendship that has stood the test of time. Tendulkar is one cricketer who is always there by Lara’s side despite all odds. Lara to his credit also backs Tendulkar.
Remarkably Lara now has a Stadium named after him in the West Indies while Tendulkar has a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium. The icons of the game are still idolised by many despite almost years passed by since their retirement.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Shimron Hetmyer
They only got united in the summer when Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought both Shimron Hetmyer and Yuzvendra Chahal. Since both players have flourished and have shared time together in the RR camp. Upon India’s arrival in the West Indies, Chahal shared a picture of him with the West Indies player and showcased their close bonds. They helped RR reach their first IPL final in 14 years as well.
Both the players were seen posing together as Chahal was in the final phase of preparations ahead of the first ODI. With the first ODI just a couple of days away, Chahal will be gearing up for the three-match ODI series.

Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard
They may not be sharing the dressing room anymore, but they are still best of friends. Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard are the two players who share close bond and also vibe off the fields, especially during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Hardik is now at Gujarat Titans (GT) and Pollard is still at Mumbai Indians (MI). But the bond remains one of the closest. They have also won the IPL on multiple occasions and are one of he decorated players to have won the most IPL titles.
MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo
The legendary pair is one of the best in the history of the IPL as both have unique distinctions to their name. Bravo has snared the most wickets in the history of the IPL and majority of those have come under MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Chennai Super Kings brought Dwayne Bravo in 2011. Since then Bravo has played under the leadership of Dhoni. He considers Dhoni as the best captain he has ever played under. Bravo doesn’t just consider Dhoni as his friend, he treats him like his brother. Dhoni on the other hand considers Bravo as his main lieutenant. Their friendship is one for the ages.
