“Playing for India is a huge responsibility in itself, and brings with it its own pressure. There are some massive names in this team, and I have grown up watching them on TV. And it is great to practice with them” Shahrukh Khan said recently.
The 26-year old was seen toiling hard in the nets ahead of the second ODI in Ahmedabad that is scheduled to be played on Wednesday.
With India looking for a finisher lower-down the order, it remains to be seen whether he gets an opportunity in playing XI in the upcoming games.

He was initially called up to the squad as one of the back-up players along with his state-mate Sai Kishore. However with Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer testing positive for Covid, he was drafted into the main squad.
The youngster from Tamil Nadu has been rewarded with the call-up to the Indian team due to his stellar performances with the bat in the domestic circuit. Over the last few seasons, Shahrukh has been in the news for his batting heroics and has emerged as one of the best finishers in white-ball cricket.

He played a clinical role in Tamil Nadu’s back to back title victories in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the 2021-22 final, he scored a 15-ball 33 and when 5 runs were needed of the last ball, he finished the match with a terrific last-ball six against Karnataka, to help Tamil Nadu win the title for the second consecutive year. Similarly, against the same opponents in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final, he smashed 79 off 39 balls and his contribution in the final against HP was 42 off 21 balls.

He is one of those players who is expected to fetch a huge price at the upcoming IPL mega auction. He earned his maiden IPL contract last year as he was picked up by Punjab Kings for 5.25 crores. He played a total of 11 matches for the franchise, scoring 153 runs at an average of 21.85 and a strike rate of 134.21. He was released by the team this year ahead of the mega auction. He has set a base price of 20 Lakhs.
