Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s ‘SUPERB OVER’: With West Indies needing 29 off the last two overs, Kumar took out Nicholas Pooran and conceded just four singles in the penultimate 19th over to give Harshal Patel 23 runs to defend, which he did to seal the T20I series in India’s favour.
“I was just believing in myself. Rohit told me that if I can give just 9-10 runs, it will be difficult for them, so I just backed myself with the yorkers. There was a bit of dew, but I still backed myself and it came out well,” said Kumar to broadcasters ‘Star Sports’ after the match.

What Gavaskar said about Bhuvneshwar Kumar? Citing Bhuvneshwar’s poor form, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar has asked the management to look at Deepak Chahar as a replacement for the 31-year-old in white-ball cricket.
“I think it’s time to look at Deepak Chahar now. He is pretty much the same bowler, can swing the ball both ways, and bats handily down the order,”
“Bhuvi has been a tremendous servant of Indian cricket. But, in the last year or so, even in franchise cricket, he has been expensive. He used to bowl those brilliant yorkers and slower deliveries, but those are not working anymore as the opposition is studying you all the time and they will know how to be prepared for it. So maybe it is time to look at somebody else,” Gavaskar said during a discussion with Sports Today.

Bhuvi has now answered his critics. Captain Rohit Sharma is completely bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s skills in the death overs.
“You are always a bit scared when you are playing against these guys (West Indies power hitters). I am proud we executed our plans under pressure. It was very critical at that point when Bhuvneshwar bowled,” said Rohit at the post match presentation after series-sealing win.
“That’s where experience comes into play. Bhuvi has been doing it for many years and we believe in him a lot.”

Kumar jokingly remarked, “He (Powell) was hitting it pretty hard, probably 200kmph!”
“It’s always tough to bowl yorkers with the dew. When we bowled the slower balls, it wasn’t gripping and I changed my plan not to bowl slower balls, so it totally depends on the wicket. These (West Indies batters) are very powerful and if you bowl in their zone, it gets difficult.”
Kumar signed off by saying that he is feeling well fitness-wise.
“Feels good and I don’t want to say anything about that.”
