One look at India’s T20 squad and it is evident that the management is looking at spinners with focus on the T20 World Cup.
India have five spinners in the squad. But with Ravindra Jadeja doubtful for the first game, the count reduces to four, including Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav. Axar is almost a certainty in the first T20 with his all-round credentials coming in handy in absence of Jadeja.
With India set to field a specialist spinner, It is either going to be Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi or Kuldeep Yadav. It could be a toss up between Bishnoi the leg-spinner and Kuldeep the Chinaman. They already have Deepak Hooda if required for part-time off spinner as well.
Kuldeep, with his experience, can bring a different variety to the bowling attack. He also has that knack of taking wickets at regular intervals, which is an important asset in the shorter format of the game.

Five-match T20 series gives management to test spin department: India are set to play five matches in the series and they are going to play different spinners. With five matches, it gives the management a wonderful picture as to who fits the bill perfectly. Also, in the past when Kuldeep and Chahal bowled in tandem, they troubled batters with their varieties.
Kuldeep is also a confidence bowler. When on song, he has immaculate control over his bowling. He bowls wicket taking balls quite regularly and the batters are often found wanting as well.
