Chahar, who was a part of the Indian set-up in the recently-concluded series against West Indies, sustained an injury in the final T20I at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He suffered a grade 2 hamstring tear, which immediately made him a major doubt for the series against Sri Lanka.

According to reports in Sports Today, Chahar’s injury is all set to rule him out of both the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and also the initial days of IPL 2022, for it will take around 5-6 weeks for him to make a full recovery and return to the grass. India are slated to play three T20Is and two Test matches against the Lankans. Chahar was named in the T20I squad.
This news is not only a major blow to Rohit Sharma’s Indian team but also Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings side, since the four-time IPL champions spent INR 14 crores on the 26-year-old bowler.
