IND vs SL LIVE: Shreyas Iyer seizes his opportunity, sizzles with back to back half-centuries vs Sri Lanka

Shreyas Iyer chipped in with his highest score in T20 internationals as India clinched a comfortable win in the India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20 on Saturday. Iyer , batting at No.3, chipped in with an unbeaten on 74 off just 44 balls, as he hit the Sri Lankan attack to all parts of the ground in a dominating innings. The 27-year-old was well supported by Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja, as India clinched a seven-wicket win with 17 balls to spare.

Shreyas Iyer was given an opportunity after the team management decided to rest Virat Kohli for the T20 series. The newly appointed Kolkata Knight Riders captain has taken his chance with both hands, scoring an unbeaten 57 off just 28 balls in the first game, before following it up with an unbeaten 74, chelping India clinch wins in both games.

The run of form is good for the 27-year-old, who recently lost his place in the first XI to Suryakumar Yadav. Iyer’s run-scoring and the rate at which he has scored them have certainly been impressive and the team management will find it difficult to not consider him as part of plans when the likes of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant return.
