India are currently locking horns with Sri Lanka in the first of two-match Test series in Mohali. In the last delivery of the 58th over of the Lankans’ innings, a fantastic off-cutter by Jasprit Bumrah caught an in-form Charith Asalanka off-guard, as the left-handed batter played down the wrong line.

Calls of a leg before wicket were initially discarded by the umpire, but following a prolonged discussion, skipper Rohit Sharma took the DRS in the very last second. It turned out to be a fantastic call as the review showed that the delivery would have went on to crash into the stumps.

While he is very new in his career as India’s full-time captain and comparison with former skipper Virat Kohli should be drawn in terms of achievements, there is one particular aspect where Sharma is ahead of his predecessor – DRS.
Kohli’s record with the DRS was not impressive, but like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the current captain seems to rarely get his DRS calls wrong. In this Test itself, two of his first three reviews were successful. India recently competed against West Indies in a bilateral series where Sharma grabbed the headlines for his DRS decision-making once again, as he got four correct calls on the trot.
