Nikhil Chopra said SuryaKumar Yadav understands the game situations very well. He will be a trump card for India at No.4. He can play the role of an anchor.
“If Suryakumar bats with Kohli, he can keep moving the game. He will look to give more strike to Kohli. He understands game situations very well. And if he bats at No.4, India have a trump card player in Rishabh Pant at No.5,” Nikhil Chopra said on Khelneeti Podcast.
“Suryakumar can score at a strike rate of 120-130 and improve it when needed. I would like to give him more chances because he has very good game awareness. He rarely gets out playing a bad shot,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ajit Agarkar said that SuryaKumar Yadav is more versatile at No.4.
“I just feel Suryakumar Yadav is more versatile if you need him to bat a little bit higher or even if it’s at 5 or 6, he seems to have a bit more to his game or more all-around ability to his batting than Shreyas Iyer,” he told Star Sports in GamePlan.
“Shreyas Iyer is a terrific player who can strike the ball well but at this point, If I had to pick one out of the two – it’ll have to be Suryakumar Yadav because he just seems in better form, seems to have a lot more all-round game and more suited to the number 5 or 6 at this point,” he added.

With Shikhar Dhawan back as Team India opener in ODIs, a number of experts feel KL Rahul should bat in the middle-order. He holds the opening slot in T20I in Dhawan’s absence.

Shreyas Iyer has played at No.4 for a while for Team India. He was seen as a perfect option in ODIs but failed badly in SA ODIs. He has played 26 ODIs and 32 T20Is with 947 and 580 runs respectively. He has scored 12 fifties and a century across formats in white-ball cricket.
SuryaKumar Yadav bats at a better strike rate with 155 and 103 in both formats. He has amassed 267 and 244 runs in 7 ODIs and 11 T20Is. He has smashed 5 half-centuries while playing for India.
