IND vs SL LIVE: India vs SriLanka LIVE: Virat Kohli has gradually impressed with the bat in the three Asia Cup innings so far. His best show came against Pakistan on Sunday, scoring a 44-ball 60, albeit in a losing cause. Former India cricketer Karsan Ghavri believes Virat Kohli has come on the right track. He wants him to adopt similar aggression in the remainder of the Asia Cup, including the India vs Sri Lanka match on Thursday. Follow Asia Cup 2022 live updates with InsideSport.IN

“Everyone goes through a lean patch, one time or the other, but Virat Kohli has come on track. Look at his last three scores, all of them have been so good in the Asia Cup. These are all good signs for India. It is good to see him bat the way he did (in an aggressive manner),” Ghavri told InsideSport.

Last week, he did look rusty in his approach against Pakistan. But there was an element of confidence in his game on Sunday against the same opposition. He dictated play when he wanted to and showed good signs that he is adapting to the team’s new template.

Of late, Rohit Sharma has led India into playing an aggressive brand of cricket under Rahul Dravid. As per the new template, they just go after the bowling, especially the top order. If it pays off, the middle and the lower order continue with the same intensity in the match as well.

Ghavri believes Kohli’s has done well in the Asia Cup. He has applauded his approach with the bat of late. Kohli has scores of 35, 59 not out and 60 in the three matches. There is a common factor in all these scores. He has tried his best to score at a brisk rate.

“He played his shots and took risks while batting. Virat is also playing the same aggressive brand of cricket. The risk is paying off. Overall, India needs to play this kind of cricket, which they are playing these days with a certain template. The format is such, where you need to attack. in 20 overs of cricket, you do not get much time to settle down. One has to be set from the first ball,” Ghavri said.

Now, it is all about being consistent. He needs to play with the same approach as he has done in the last three matches. It also seems that the break away from the game has done wonders to his game.

With the T20 World Cup coming up in October, these are all good signs for Indian cricket. If Kohli starts roaring at number three, India will have an even more formidable batting line up in Australia.
