Ind vs SA Test series: The 35-year-old needs 8 wickets to become India’s second-highest wicket-taker after Anil Kumble (619). He is currently seven wickets behind Kapil Dev (434).

He has already taken record 52 wickets and amassed 337 runs in 8 Tests including a century against England. Thus, he will look to end the year on a high as India looks to get third time lucky at SuperSport Park, Centurion in Boxing Day Test.

He will look to continue his stellar form against South Africa after taking 53 wickets in 10 matches. But he needs to improve his bowling record as he manages just 7 wickets in 3 Tests in South Africa.

Ashwin (2755) is also on verge of eclipsing Syed Kirmani (2759), MAK Pataudi (2793). He has scored as many as 5 centuries and 11 fifties.
