Dhawan’s case is the most peculiar one. He had a good season for Punjab Kings, looked fit – but still is told ‘that he will not be considered for the Indian team in future’
The sources close to Dhawan told InsideSport that though the Southpaw as always is in good spirits but feel little let down by the selectors and the team management.
“Anyone would feel let down by the treatment meted out to him. He has been scoring consistently. He is fit as anyone can and still is not in scheme of Indian team management. Little hard to digest for everyone”, said the source close to Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan –
- The Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter was a big hit for the franchise as he was seen scoring runs left, right and center.
- More importantly he was the eight highest scorer in the tournament with and was tipped for a return back to the Team India.
- However, the BCCI showed lack of faith in him and decided not to include the veteran star in the South Africa tour.
- In the IPL 2022 Dhawan scored 460 runs in 14 matches and has played 68 T20Is for India, but will have to do without an international call-up against South Africa.
Sanju Samson-
- Arguably, one of the biggest let down’s for during the South Africa series is Sanju Samson, after guiding Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the final of the IPL 2022.
- Sanju was the ninth highest scorer in the IPL 2022 and was certain for a place in the Indian team, but lack of experience and competition for places meant that he was sacrificed in favour of other players.
- With 458 runs in the IPL 2022, the consistency factor saw RR reach to heights of success but will need an extra effort to make a return.
- Sanju did play in the Sri Lanka home series earlier in the year and will be optimistic for a chance in the upcoming England tour.

Rahul Tripathi-
- Rahul Tripathi has been knocking on the doors of the Indian team selector for a while now, but is yet to make his debut for the national side.
- Rahul was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for big money fee of Rs 8.5 crore rupees.
- In IPL 2022 Rahul amassed 413 runs in 14 matches and was likely tipped for a first national team call-up.
- However, competition for places and lack of experience meant that Rahul had to do without a place in the Indian team.
