For KL Rahul personally, the South Africa series will be the biggest test for his captaincy aspirations. After losing all four matches (1 Test and 3 ODIs) under his captaincy, the South Africa series will be crucial for him to prove a worthy successor to Rohit Sharma when the time comes.
“It will be a great opportunity for KL. The only senior around him will be Bhuvneshwar and it will be the best test for him as a potential Indian captain. I won’t say he will be under pressure but certainly, he will be closely monitored,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport earlier.
