Cuttack T20 Tickets: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) made 12000 tickets available for sale on Thursday and Friday, with counters set up outside the stadium. In a first, the governing body set up two separate queues for women, while the other seven were for men.
However, heated arguments took place in the women’s section, with complaints of some having jumped their turns. Things escalated quickly as a scuffle ensued, with blows exchanged. The ticket counters opened from 9 am on Thursday, but fans made a beeline outside the stadium to purchase tickets much before that.
Speaking to the Times of India, Sabita Behera, a native of Cuttack who stood in a queue to buy ticket said, “I have been standing since 6 am with my aadhar card. However, some came after 9 am and jumped to queue.”
As per the report, police said that a huge crowd had gathered near the ticket counter and a few were seen breaking the queues, following which police tried to bring order with a mild lathi charge. The process was streamlined within minutes, said Ajay Das, assistant commissioner of police (ACP).
As per the rules, One person can buy maximum two tickets by producing any of his/her identity proofs. A total of 5,000 IND vs SA 2nd T20 tickets were sold online while a further 8,000 tickets were sold to clubs, schools and other organisations associated with the Odisha Cricket Association.
