Shardul Thakur had a the perfect initiation to test cricket and the fast bowler chipped in with vital half-centuries in Australia and England helping his team’s cause. Now in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar patel, the onus will be on Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin to steady the lower middle order and frustrate the oppositon by adding to the total.

“I am looking forward to it. I hope it comes off in SA too as I have been successful in England and Australia, to contribute in South African conditions, I would be more than happy,” Shardul told teammate Ravichandran Ashwin during a chat on bcci.tv.
For Shardul, who has 67 wickets and 366 runs for India in 43 international games across formats, self belief is the key. For the Mumbai cricketer, the aim is to remain a player who always makes winning contributions for the team and not just merely adds up numbers.

“I do like to plan my game in terms of both bowling and batting. When I enter the ground, everything is about confidence and self-belief for me. If you are playing white ball cricket, you think of yorker. So to bowl that yorker, I go in with full confidence which stands out for me as a player,” Shardul said.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur also indulged in a discussion on their dance moves. “Dance is something that is completely out of the syllabus for me. I look at myself and I think I want to dance in a certain way but I definitely cannot,” the off-spinner added.
To this Shardul said, “But you can surely move your shoulder quite well. Is that because of your bowling?”
Ashwin responded to the question by saying, “No, the step is like that. I think the actor Vijay got inspired by me and actually did it.”
