With India needing a win to go level in the series, the onus was on captain Rishabh Pant to lead from the front after the hosts stuttered early with the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. The Indian captain walked into bat with more than 13 overs to spare, but failed to make the most of his opportunity.
South African skipper Temba Bavuma introduced Keshav Maharaj into the attack and Pant tried to exert his dominance, but could only find Rassie van der Dussen. The Indian captain’s dismissal could turn out to be a huge miss for the Men in Blue especially considering that they’re trailing in the series.
