Rahul Dravid Masterclass for Umran Malik – Dravid very keen to develop him as LONG TERM prospect: Umran touched 157KMPH during the just concluded IPL 2022. Like everyone else, Dravid according to the sources see Umran as a very long term prospect for the Indian cricket.
- Dravid’s special focus will be to develop Umran Malik as test prospect for India
- Umran Malik’s fitness will be keenly monitored going forward. Indian and NCA Physios have been asked to map Umran Malik’s workload and prepare FITNESS plans accordingly.
At the nets, Umran was seen closely working with India’s pace bowling coach Paras Mhambrey. Chief coach Rahul Dravid was making some notes during the entire nets session.
In his first session as Indian player, Umran also looked in great spirits. The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Jammu & Kashmir bowler was seen mingling with everyone around.
Umran was also seen having a conversation with vice-captain Rishabh Pant as he geared himself up for the first T20I.

- In the Indian Premier League (IPL) Umran was running a Need for Speed (NFS) contest with Lockie Ferguson for the fastest ball of the tournament.
- Although Lockie ultimately won the contest with 157.3 kmph, Umran had some serious numbers in the IPL 2022.
- Umran touched 157 kmph against Delhi Capitals earlier in the IPL and has all the required tools to repeat the trick on international stage.

Indian Playing XI for 1st T20? Will Umran Malik play the 1st T20 in Delhi? That is the question on eveyone’s lips.
The answer would be UNLIKELY. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan in line-up, it seems Umran will have to wait for his chances. But at some point in 5 Match T20 Series, Umran Malik will surely get a look-in.
