Indian Team Practice Session: Usually a gun fielder, Axar Patel was guilty of letting the standards slip during the previous series. It was one of Axar’s spilled catches that helped Australia clinch the game in Mohali.
Now ahead of the IND vs SA 1st T20, Patel spent extra time polishing his skills in a special session. The all-rounder had Dinesh Karthik’s company as ensured their best reduce the margin for error. The 28-year-old practiced near the boundary while keeping a fair distance from the rope.

It is not the first instance of emphasis being placed on catching. After Arhsdeep Singh dropped a sitter against Pakistan in the Asia Cup, the left-arm pacer was also seen taking catches in the build-up to the next game. India will hope that the extra sessions make a difference, especially with Axar now being a vital member of the Indian squad.

Meanwhile, the Indian team touched down in Thiruvananthapuram amid great fanfare. Rohit Sharma and Co had a rest day on Monday before hitting the nets on Tuesday. All members of the squad were present barring Shreyas Iyer, who was drafted in late to replace Deepak Hooda.
