How did the injury scare take place? – Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur, Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda were among the only Indian cricketers who had a hit out during the optional practice session in Perth.
The veteran wicketkeeper was the first to take the nets for a batting session and he was seen having a chat with India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey. Karthik, who has been preferred in the India XI at the T20 World Cup 2022 as their designated finisher, also elongated his optional training session by keeping practice ahead of the mega clash.

India fielding coach T Dilip was seen feeding Karthik with their regular low throw-downs drill when the veteran went down in pain. He was seen holding his hand in pain for a long-time after misjudging an attempted catch but there was a sigh of relief as he continued the practice session afterwards.

Karthik scored one run in the first Super 12 Group 2 match against Pakistan while he did not get a bat in India’s win against the Netherlands in their previous game.
Which other Indian players were present during the practice? – “I will bat for five hours today,” Pant, who is still to get a game in the T20 World Cup 2022, jokingly said as per the Indian Express before the practice session.
Among the fast bowlers, Mohammed Siraj was seen undergoing bowling practice. At the same time, the captain-coach duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid discussed the upcoming match during the practice session. Meanwhile, former India captain Virat Kohli was also seen arriving at the scene. The practice session, however, was stopped for a brief period of time due to a drizzle in Perth.
