In such a circumstance, the nation pinned their hopes on the Pandya-Karthik fair to deliver, and the dup did oblige. While the former scored 46 runs from 31 deliveries, veteran Karthik played an even better knock, scoring 55 runs from only 27 deliveries.
Hardik took the attack on wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi in the 12th over, where he struck back-to-back sixes. Meanwhile, his innings was comprised of three fours and as many sixes, as no South African bowler could escape the wrath.

On the other hand, Karthik went after the other South African spinner in Keshav Maharaj. In the 17th over of the game, he struck three boundaries, which he then followed up by hitting two fours and a six in the next over, bowled by Dwaine Pretorius. Thanks to his 9 fours and a couple of sixes, Karthik brought his very first T20I half-century, at the age of 37.
The duo will be seen in action in the upcoming series against Ireland, where Hardik will also lead the team, and Indian fans will be expecting similar fireworks from this pair.
