Cricket South Africa’s board chairperson Lawson Naidoo said they were hugely disappointed by the development.
“There are no spectators at these games which makes it important for broadcasters to assist in getting the games out to as many people as possible,” Naidoo said.
“It’s hugely disappointing to CSA that Radio 2000 will not be covering the cricket because this is part of the history and the feel of Test cricket.
“Radio plays a significant role in getting the game into corners of the country that television does not reach.”

India vs South-Africa LIVE: Though the Live Radio Commentary will not be available for the series, South African Broadcast Corporation will LIVE Broadcast the test series.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) general manager for sport Gary Rathbone told Sport24 that Radio 2000’s shift to being a commercial station played a role in them canning cricket.
“They say that it takes too much time and it disrupts the other programming that they have,”Rathbone told Sports24.
“Those programmes have revenue … they are trying to build the commercial values of the station and the cricket is disrupting that.
“I have been fighting this with the relevant executives, but the position is that they have to support Radio 2000’s attempts to be more successful from a commercial basis, and they support their decision not to carry the cricket,” Rathbone added.
