South Africa captain Temba Bavuma scored a sedate century to frustrate the Indian bowlers in a record stand with Rassie van der Dussen during IND vs SA 1st ODI. The Proteas were in trouble having lost Janneman Malan early, while Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram also departed in quick succession to leave the hosts reeling at 68/3.
Bavuma operated cautiously as he and Dussen built a strong partnership against an Indian attack. The Proteas skipper focused on rotating the strike, while Dussen took the aggressive approach finding the boundary at an increased frequency. Their partnership is a record for the fourth wicket in IND vs SA ODIs, going past the 171 put on Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers at Centurion in 2013.

Rassie van der Dussen meanwhile also got to his second ODI century when he reached the landmark in the 48th over. Unlike Bavuma Dussen was aggressive and had the Indian attack on the ropes as he reached the three-figure mark in just 83 deliveries.
The partnership was finally broken after Bavuma hit one straight to captain KL Rahul at long-on in a bid to up the scores in the final two overs of the game. He was eventually dismissed for a 143-ball 110. Dussen, stayed till the end, smashing his career-best score to remain unbeaten on 129 as South Africa put on 296 in their 50 overs.
