Arshdeep Singh
The Indian pacer missed the India vs Australia series. He was at the NCA for conditioning work. With the pacer from Punjab in the squad for South Africa, all eyes will be on him. The Indian pacer battery has looked quite off colour, especially at the death. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel have been poor in the slog overs.
So, a solid performance from Arshdeep in the upcoming series could play an important role in sealing his Playing XI spot. The pace attack has been such that only Jasprit Bumrah is the only sure shot bowler in the Playing XI. It is time for Arshdeep to make this opportunity count.

Rishabh Pant
At present, it looks like the management has picked Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant. But there is no guarantee that they will stick to the same. Pant knows fully well that he will get his fair share of chance in the South Africa series. Rohit Sharma will also want to look at him before making a final call on the wicketkeeper-batter.
If he fails, it could well be the end of the road with Karthik having done decent in the finishers’ role entrusted to him.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Without a shadow of doubt, Chahal is India’s premier spinner in the longer format. But, of late, Axar Patel has overshadowed Chahal. The T20 World Cup is in Australia, and India will not load the team with spinners. So, if India just want to play with one spinner, it would be interesting to see who will play. Playing Patel also gives India the flexibility in the team combination, which is a must in the T20 format. The leg-spinner will look to be back amongst the wickets in the South Africa series. He only picked two in three matches against Australia.
