KL Rahul is gearing up for his first ever T20I clash against the Proteas, having never played against the South Africans before. In a rather storied T20I career, Rahul has played for over six years and featured in 56 games, but the opportunity finally arrives in what his first home series as stand-in skipper.

As far as debuts are concerned, KL has a good record, having slammed centuries on both his ODI and T20I debut for the Men in Blue. He also has had some rare misses, including being knocked over by Shaheen Afridi in his first game against Pakistan.
Rahul in any case would want to give out a statement with his bat considering his lacklustre record against the visitors in other formats. The Indian captain for rhe series averages close to 25 in ODIs and Tests against the Proteas, and the Indian opener will be keen to set the record straight.
