Virat Kohli ODI Captaincy: Kohli’s fate as ODI skipper set to be decided this week, will selectors chose him as ODI Captain?

Kane Williamson & Ross Taylor

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor might have failed to make an impact in the opening Test but they can score centuries to achieve a special record. Kane Williamson needs 129 runs while Ross Taylor requires 117 runs to complete 1000 runs against India. Only Brandon McCullum had achieved the feat in Tests against India (1224 runs in 10 innings).

R Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin who took 58 wickets in 8 matches against New Zealand can achieve a special record. He can become the highest-ever wicket-taker in India vs New Zealand Test matches. He needs only 8 wickets to go past Richard Hadlee (65 wickets in 14 matches against India). He has already surpassed Harbhajan Singh to become India’s third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. On the batting front, the 35-year-old needs 5 runs to go past Syed Kirmani who has amassed 2759 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane

Under fire Ajinkya Rahane can score 81 runs to go past MS Dhoni’s record of 4876 runs in Test cricket. He has scored 4795 runs in 79 Test matches. It would be the best time to return to form for Rahane at his Home ground. He has last scored his Test century in December last year.

Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma, who ended wicketless at Kanpur Test, is expected to come all guns blazing against New Zealand in the second Test. He needs lone wicket to surpass Zaheer Khan (311 wickets) and become India’s pacer with the most wickets in Test cricket. Earlier this year, Ishant Sharma completed 100 Test matches in Ahmedabad, only India pacer to reach the milestone. Now, he can add another feather to his cap.
