IND vs NZ LIVE: India suffer triple blow, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of 2nd Test

In a release by the BCCI, the absence of Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane were confirmed. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma dislocated his left little finger during the final day of the 1st Test match in Kanpur. He is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai. The BCCI Medical team will continue to monitor his progress.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. He has been advised rest and is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai.

IND vs NZ LIVE- Ishant, Rahane and Jadeja ruled out: Ajinkya Rahane sustained a minor left hamstring strain while fielding on the final day of the 1st Test match in Kanpur. Since he has not recovered completely, he has been ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai. His progress will be closely monitored by the BCCI Medical team.

Virat Kohli is set to take over the slot left by Ajinkya Rahane, meaning Shreyas Iyer, who enjoyed a stellar debut Test at Kanpur, will retain his place in the side. Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal who were also perilously close to an axe, also remain in the scheme of things.

Mohammed Siraj is likely to replace Ishant Sharma in the attack, but replacing Jadeja will not be a straightforward task for captain Virat Kohli. While Jayant Yadav remains an option, replacing the left-armer’s skills with the bat will be a task for the Indian team. India could very well opt for an extra batsman in this regard, with Suryakumar Yadav in the squad as well.
