IND vs NZ: IPL rivalry set to resume as Umran Malik & Lockie Ferguson fight out for the fastest pacer tag in India vs NewZealand T20 Series

IND vs NZ: Umran Malik vs Lockie Ferguson battle for the fastest bowler tag, Malik eyes redemption – SRH pacer Malik, all of 22 years gave a tough competition to a seasoned pro. In the 14 matches that the Indian fast bowler played, the speedster won cash rewards of 10 lakhs for the fastest ball in majority of the games. Malik was easily the fastest India bowler and made everyone go wow. On the other hand, Ferguson had already played international cricket for three years. The Kiwi pacer was different from Malik as he had a lot of variations.

This time, Malik is developing a lethal yorker to his armory and is now seeking revenge from Ferguson. The task won’t be easy as the India pacer will be playing for the first time in New Zealand. This time, head coach VVS Laxman, and skipper Hardik Pandya are set to give the young pacer a longer rope.

IND vs NZ: Chance for Umran Malik to shine against New Zealand, sans few senior bowlers

  • Malik only bowled nine overs before he was dropped from the Indian team.
  • While Malik’s pace was breathtaking to watch, the right-arm pacer was erratic with his line and lengths.
  • After four months hiatus, Malik has again been given a chance to again show his credentials. This time, the 22-year-old has worked hard with Jammu & Kashmir coaches.
  • Malik has also developed a yorker and has worked in his line and lengths a bit.
  • VVS Laxman has spent a few extra hours with Umran, and it looks likely that he will be given a lot of chances this time around.
