With Lucknow pitch spitting venom, Chahal admitted to Kuldeep that he did not want to give any boundary balls to Kiwi batters. The leg spinner also said if New Zealand would have scored 120 it would have been difficult for India to chase. While India bundled out visitors to below 100, the chase was far easy for the hosts. However, Suryakumar Yadav stood like a rock and played match-winning innings of 26.

Unlike the other Surya innings, this knock was more measured, and the India batter admitted that on the tricky Lucknow pitch, it was important to stay till the end and play according to the merit of the ball.
