12-over game India 111 for 3 (Hooda 47*, Kishan 26, Young 2-18) beat Ireland 108 for 4 (Tector 64, Chahal 1-11, Bhuvneshwar 1-16) by seven wickets
IND beat IRE 1st T20 Highlights: Chasing a target of 109, Hardik Pandya played a gamble and sent Deepak Hooda to open with Ishan Kishan instead of Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ishan continued his flying form, taking India to 45 in powerplay with 11-ball 26. While he was dismissed, Suryakumar followed suit. His return from injury just lasted 1 ball as he was dismissed for a golden duck.
However, Hardik Pandya, promoted to No 4, took charge, taking the attack to Ireland. His strike partner Deepak Hooda although struggled initially. But slowly, he found his rhythm and smashed around Irish bowlers for some much-needed batting practice on foreign soil.
Hooda stitched together a 64-run stand with Hardik to put the final nail in Ireland’s coffin. In the end, Hooda carried his bat with 29-ball 47 not out and finished the game with Dinesh Karthik.
Earlier, Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first with rain threat looming large. And rain did play spoilsport. The match was delayed by 2 hours and 20 minutes as it was reduced to a 12-overs-a-side.

India took full advantage of the conditions and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a terrific spell. His 1/13 in three overs made the difference as Ireland were reduced to 22/3.
But then on, Harry Tector launched a fightback. He smashed 33-ball 64 to take the attack to India. He was well supported by Lorcan Tucker. But it was Umran Malik who failed to impress on his debut. The Jammu Express got just 1 over and conceded 14 runs. He was never recalled and that would dampen his confidence. Meanwhile, Tector and Lorcan Tucker added 47 runs, helping Ireland put 108/4 on the board.
