“I remember in 2014 he gave us a pep talk for the first time. We were a bit down as a team and things were not happening well and he was brought in, he was brought in for the second time to set things right. In the first speech he gave, the first word he said was ‘boys’ in the voice that only he can generate. And I clearly remember, I was sitting down and my body shook because I had never heard someone speak so clearly and with so much determination and positivity,” Virat Kohli recalled in a Times Now video.

Ind vs Eng – Ravi Shastri’s Book launch: Kohli explained his relationship with the coach as India scaled new heights in his ongoing tenure as India has become a force to reckon with at all global tournaments.

“All I can say is that our working relationship has been built on trust and mutual respect, on a vision that has been shared. The only focus is to take Indian cricket higher and in a better place. Both of us together along with the brilliance of the whole team and the talent we have been blessed with, I think we have been able to achieve that and it’s something we are proud of,” Kohli added.

Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri also answered a number of questions by the fans in England. He confirmed that the book contains details about 50 players and further information will be revealed in the next book.

Ind vs Eng – Ravi Shastri’s Book launch: Notably, Shastri had served as the director of the Indian Cricket Team in 2014 before joining as head coach in 2017. He joined Kohli & Co after India’s final loss in Champions Trophy 2017 and led to some memorable wins across all formats. Under his reigns, India became the first Asian country to defeat Australia in a Test series (2018) before repeating the history in 2020-21. India also made it to the semifinals of the 2019 World Cup and entered the finals of the World test Championship. India will now look to win an ICC Trophy with T20 World Cup 2021 before his tenure comes to an end.
