After a disappointing collapse in 1st ODI, the onus was on England to put on a show at Lord’s with the series on the line. However, Yuzvendra Chahal put a spanner in their works with a fine spell of spin bowling on Thursday. Chahal tricked the English batsmen with his flight and variations, picking up three wickets as England slipped to a 102/5.

The Rajasthan Royals star first cleaned up Jonny Bairstow who missed a straight delivery trying to slog Chahal into the deep. Chahal then followed it up with a brilliant delivery to trap Joe Root in front, to send the former England Test captain walking. He then trapped Ben Stokes in front to break the back of England’s batting effort at Lord’s.

He then finished it up with picking his fourth wicket of the day, dismissing the dangerous-looking Moeen Ali in the 41st over. Ali looked strong batting at 47, but Chahal bowled a peach to get the better of the hard-hitting left-hander. He finished his spell with 4/47 in his 10 overs, the best by an Indian bowler at Lord’s.
