Mohammed Siraj replaced Jaspreet Bumrah after the latter suffered a back spasm in the 3rd and series decider of the India vs England ODI series. Siraj displayed stellar bowling when on his first over he dispatched 2 English top-order batters in a maiden over. After the dismissals of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root, the English skipper Jos Buttler came to the crease.
Buttler made a slow and cautious start to his innings in a bid to protect the wickets and keep the scoreboard ticking. However, Siraj had other plans. On a pitch that doesn’t move the ball much as compared to the previous grounds of the Oval and the Lord’s, the Indian bowler decided to utilize the bouncy pitch of Old Trafford.

Buttler was in some serious discomfort after getting hit on the head. He had to change his helmet following the incident. The play was stopped for a brief period according to the safety rules of the sport. A mandatory concussion check was carried out by the England team’s physio. With everything being settled and cleared, Buttler was given the green signal to continue his innings.
Two deliveries later, Siraj yet again attempted a bouncer which again went on to hit the side of the helmet of the Buttler. The England skipper shook off the initial distress and remained steady on the pitch to guide England to a big score. Buttler went on to register a gritty fifty that was much appreciated by the English crowd.
