The 635th appearance for Rai makes him nothing less than a legendary supporter for the Indian cricket fan. He has come a long way since witnessing 1983 WC winning captain Kapil Dev’s iconic 175 against Zimbabwe at Tunbridge Wells when he was 17-year-old.

“I was among the thousands of fans who ran at Lord’s when India defeated West Indies to clinch their maiden World Cup. I saw Kapil’s 175 at a deserted ground with only a few fans,” he told the Indian Express.
“However, for Indians living in England, the proudest moment came when India defeated England in 1986. It was more than winning the World Cup for them, especially since a lot of them had gone through many personal attacks.”

What can be expected in the IND vs ENG clash? It will be the clash of equals as India take on England in a red-hot semi-final affair of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Blue, however, hold a slight upper hand in the shortest format as they have won 12 matches in comparison to the 10 games that England have won.
