India’s share of ups and down

Not long ago, India had a similar below-par show with the bat against Australia in Adelaide (December 2020) during the first Test where the batting unit collapsed for a total of just 36 runs. A similar unwanted situation surfaced during the Headingley, Leeds Test where the Indian unit was bundled for just 78 runs in the first innings despite the turf being a batting-friendly pitch.

With England roaring ferociously right in their first innings, Joe Root led side posted a high total of 432 runs and left India with a trail of 354 runs. In reply, the hosts did come with a few solid partnerships but the English pacer- Ollie Robinson’s fifer to wrap up India’s innings on day four left the visitors to a humiliating defeat.

With England’s win- the series is equalled 1-1 with two more contests yet to play into.
