As Jadeja is batting for his wife, Rivaba, who is contesting from the Jamnagar (North) constituency in the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. Jadeja hasn’t yet fully recovered from a knee surgery that he had in September. Shahbaz Ahmed, who made his debut in the home series against South Africa earlier this year, steps in for Jadeja vs Bangladesh in ODIs.
The 33-year-old was under the supervision of the medical team and his inclusion in the ODI squad was subject to his fitness improving. It remains to be seen if he will be available for the Test series that follows the limited-overs matches.
Meanwhile, the all-rounder is busy campaigning for his wife Rivaba in Gujarat Elections.

Jamnagar is hailed as a land of cricketers. The first-class Indian cricket event known as the “Ranji Trophy” was named in honour of K. S. Ranjitsinhji, the monarch of the Indian princely state of Nawanagar from 1907 to 1933, who hails from Jamnagar. Other athletes from the area include Vinu Mankad, Saleem Durani, and Duleepsinhji Jadeja.

Rivaba, who has a degree in mechanical engineering, joined the BJP in 2019.
With Gujarat going to assembly polls, Jadeja’s wife Rivaba and his sister Naynaba have come face to face. His wife Rivaba is contesting on a BJP ticket while his sister Naynaba is campaigning for the opposition party Congress in Jamnagar North in Gujarat. Ravindra Jadeja has already appeared in a pre-poll press conference with his wife to endorse her.
