IND vs AUS Test: Andrew McDonald’s problems for the India tour seems to be never-ending. The Australian coach is forced to cancel spinners’ ‘familiarisation camp’ due to BBL. The Big Bash League 2023 (BBL 2023) is approaching it’s business end with an eliminator and Final left to be played. With all four spinners featuring in those matches, there will be less time for them to acclimatize to the Indian conditions. Follow India vs Australia LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Andrew McDonald cancel spinners camp

Australian spin department will be led by experienced Nathan Lyon. Mitchell Swepson, Ashton Agar, and Todd Murphy will provide him with further support.  Former Australia cricketer Geff Lawson in his column in the Sydney Morning Herald wrote, “Australian touring teams have done this before. One compromise from coach Andrew McDonald was to cancel the spinners’ “familiarisation camp” this weekend, which would have taken Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy and Agar out of the grand final qualification match between the Sixers and Scorchers.”

Ashton Agar missed the recent Perth Scorchers match against Sixers after being not considered due to his involvement in Border Gavaskar Trophy.

With the Australian Team leaving for India on January 31st it will be interesting to see whether the likes of Mitchell Swepson, Toddy Murphy and Nathan Lyon will continue to be part of BBL or not.

Australia to have small camp before the Nagpur Test

The Australian Test team is reportedly set to board the flight to India on January 31st.  The Aussies have a very hectic schedule as they have very less time to prepare for the opening Test.

With the majority of the players already well versed in Indian conditions, the huge task will be for new players to acclimatize in the subcontinental conditions. With no practice match before the Test series, it will be interesting to see how new players adjust themselves to the conditions.

Australia will be aiming to win back the Border Gavaskar Trophy which they lost to India in 2020-21. Australia’s last Test series win against India came in 2014 in Australia. Speaking of the record in India, the World No 1 Test side has not won in India since the 2004-05 series.

Australia Test squad for India tour: Pat Cummins (capt), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner.
