Smith lavished high praises for Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj claiming that the Dukes ball will suit then and that India has a very good bowling attack.

“They have got a good mix. Quality seam bowlers in Shami and Siraj. Dukes ball will suit them. They have a good bowling attack,” Smith said at a Press Conference.

India has a good pace unit who can cause big damage to the formidable Australian batting order and Smith’s warning seems justified. India take on Australia in the Finals of the World Test Championship. Rohit Sharma and Co are hungry for success after losing the finals in the 2021 edition.
In the English conditions, India is likely to opt for 3 pacers. Shami and Siraj are automatic picks while Shardul Thakur is likely to be selected as the third pacer. It remains to be seen if India opts for a further pacer or go for a spinner, thereby raising conundrum in choosing between Ashwin and Umesh.
Steve Smith said, “Yes we can beat India. It has been a good couple of years. Good to be in the final. It has been a good preparation leading up to this WTC Final.”
“And then obviously their spinners as well, who bowl really well in all conditions. So, I think they’re a good attack and yeah, we’re going to have to play well against them this week,” he said.
“Yeah, I haven’t had a look at the surface yet, so I probably can’t say too much, but you’re right, usually back into the summer it’s a bit drier. Some spin can come into play, particularly as the game goes on. So, yeah, we’ll wait and see what the surface looks like,” said Smith.
