The BCCI shared a video of Team India’s first practice session in Nagpur on its official Twitter handle on Sunday (February 5). In the video, a number of prominent players from the Indian side were spotted undergoing net sessions at the Vidarbha Cricket Stadium. Moreover, coach Rahul David was guiding the players accordingly.

At the training session, speaking of the importance of the fielding side Dravid said, “Surface had been really good, fielding side of things is also well. I think that’s really important, catching will be really important part of the series. We are putting a lot of focus on slip-catching.”

“We had a couple of really long sessions, I think it is really exciting as coaching staff, you don’t get a time to camp or to get an extended period of time where you could work with players and build up effectively. I’m glad its all together come really well,” said Dravid.

He then added, “Everyone is looking in good shape, its nice to get a Test team together again, we had a lot of white-ball cricket over a month and some of those boys are shifting from white ball to red ball, so nice for them to have that extended period in nets. We are really happy to get 5-6 days here in Nagpur and it’s really been fruitful and boys are looking good.”

Notably, the Men in Blue are the reigning champions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Moreover, India has an exceptional record against Australia in their own backyard and will look to continue their dominance at home.

Looking at the earlier face-offs, India has so far hosted the Aussies in 14 Tests series and came out victorious eight times, while the visitors have won only four with the other two ending in a draw.
