IND vs AUS LIVE – India Bowlers Meeting: Team India are in a desperate situation, especially with their bowling unit. After yet another poor show in the 1st T20 against Australia, the team management did a meeting with the bowlers on Thursday. Bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, Coach Rahul DRAVID, captain Rohit Sharma were present at the meeting along with the mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton. As per information available with InsideSport, the emergency meeting was called immediately after the loss in Mohali. India failed to defend 208 runs with every bowler barring Axar Patel conceding more than 10 runs per over.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most expensive one, giving away 52 runs. The entire bowling unit including fit again Jasprit Bumrah were spoken to. It has been decided that Bumrah will be CAPTAIN of the BOWLING unit.
Mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton & bowling coach Param Mhambrey will conduct one to one session with each member of the Indian bowling unit.

The team management believes it’s a mental block rather than a technical factor that has led to a massive dip in form. What’s concerning is that there isn’t a lot of time left with just five matches to prepare for the T20 World Cup
Who all attended the meeting?
- The meeting is exclusively for bowlers along with Hardik Pandya.
- Captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul were present.
- Head coach Rahul Dravid, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton were also there
- Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Deepak Chahar along with Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and Umesh Yadav attended the session.
- After the meeting, Paddy Upton will have an individual session with every bowler.
Earlier, selectors expressed concerns regarding India’s no-show with the ball. After the hammering in Mohali, captain Rohit Sharma looked jaded and was in disbelief that India could not defend 208 runs even though pitch supported the batters well. Rohit admitted that the bowling is what let the team down.
“I don’t think we bowled well. 200 is a good score to defend, and we didn’t take our chances in the field. It was a great effort from our batters, but the bowlers were quite not there,” Rohit Sharma said after the match.
InsideSport understands that the selectors spoke with the team management and assured them of support. Hence, the emergency meeting for bowlers was called.
“Of course, it’s a concern when our bowlers cannot defend 208. But there is time and you have to understand that Mohali pitch was a batting heaven. So, it would not be ideal to discard them based on one match. We will talk to the team management on the help they need to make this work,” one of the selectors told InsideSport.
Earlier, Paddy Upton’s session with Virat Kohli helped the Indian star immensely. Following his break, Kohli worked with Upton regularly and got his form back in Asia Cup. Kohli hit his maiden T20I century after having gone without scoring one for 1020 days.
