To note, Bahutule was also part of the coaching set-up during India’s tour of NewZealand last year. Speaking about his numbers, Bahutule, played two Tests and eight ODIs for India. He also featured in 188 first-class games in which he took 630 wickets and scored 6176 runs.
As mentioned above, the Indian camp has asked for quite a few spinners as well. The likes of Washington Sundar, Saurabh Kumar, Sai Kishore, Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav and Pulkit Narang will stay with the Indian team as part of the preparations for the upcoming series.
“For Dravid, an international series is the perfect stage to give exposure to as many players and coaches as possible. It’s a perfect idea to develop bench strength in all the departments,” a source told TOI.

Meanwhile, Indian batter KL Rahul said that there will be pressure to field three spinners in Nagpur for the opening Test. From February 9 onward, the first Test match between Australia and India would be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. “There will be a temptation to play three spinners. We are playing in India, where pitches are going to spin. But it is still early to know what the pitch is going to do exactly,” said Rahul in a pre-match press conference.
